Youth Job Coaching and Paid Internship Program
Otherwise, their futures most likely include homelessness, substance abuse, violence & crime (either as a chronic victim or as a perpetrator), and a similar cycle for their own children.
To meet this need H.O.M.E.S. created the Youth Job Coaching & Paid Internship program. Through our generous program funders, we have retained a full-time Job Coach who provides one-on-one and group job coaching. Most of our tenants never had secured a job, or held only food work. They are now coached to improve their appearance and work place manners, create a resume, perform mock interviews and get career aptitude testing. Our Job Coach prepares the youth for the world of work.
Youth are then placed in 13-week Paid Job Internships with local businesses based on their particular aptitudes, interest and/or skills.
Interns are paid from the private grant funding – 20 hours per week at $10 per hour. H.O.M.E.S. contracts with the Intern and the Business providing monitoring, paychecks and troubleshooting, when needed. H.O.M.E.S. ensures that Interns are meeting performance standards set by the business each week.
OUR GOAL is to introduce our Interns to careers options, provide meaningful work experiences, set a standard for workplace expectations, and help them find long-term employment.
